1969 MERCEDES 600 SWB

This 1969 600 SWB Sedan is a particularly fine example that has been treated to extensive, professional care in the hands of its past owners. The car is accompanied by an impressive folio of service receipts and owner correspondences that document the maintenance and essential, specialized service that it has received in recent years. This 600 is a very well-optioned car, finished as-delivered in Mercedes 040 Black (originally 350H Blue ) over a ravishing red leather interior and equipped with European headlamps. The body is in very good condition and the doors shut with the vault-like precision expected of a 600. The paintwork was completely redone in 1998 and remains glossy and attractive today. The chrome and brightwork are similarly excellent, and straight -  also redone during the same era as the paintwork.

Interior appointments include a cooled compartment between the front seats, black steering wheel, power adjustable rear seats and rear privacy curtains. The red leather has mellowed nicely, appearing well cared-for and in very sound condition. Extensive woodwork adorns the dash, windscreen frame, and door caps and it presents in excellent condition overall. Updates include a modern radio and rear window mounted 3rd brake lamp. Original handbooks are included
Accompanying this car is a binder of receipts documenting the extensive care it has received in the hands of its previous owners. The hydraulic system has been comprehensively rebuilt, the heating and air conditioning fully sorted, and brakes rebuilt. Timing chain, chain tensioner and upper valve train have all been recently renewed; the work carried out by W100 experts Star Motors of Endicott, New York. During the 1998 restoration work, the engine was rebuilt by 600 specialist Karl Middelhauve. The big V8 presents in a tidy, unrestored manner that is reflective of the regular care and maintenance. The suspension has been serviced with new valves and bushes as needed, and the ancillary hydraulics all checked and serviced as needed, and the car has continued to be well-maintained by its current enthusiastic owner.
Driving this Mercedes-Benz 600 is an experience unto itself, delivering superb levels of performance. Built in very limited numbers for the most discriminating owner, few 600’s have survived in such condition; fewer still have been as lavishly maintained as this exceptional example.
